Artwork with the stylistic signature of the Art Nouveau movement is the constant factor of this textile collection. A collection made in cooperation with Latin American craftsmen and professional European designers. The Leitmotif of the research is a set of original sketches from the historical Nieuwbrug collection of Marc Van Hoe. Five Art Nouveau designs are chosen by Linda Topic and interpreted by Guatemalan craftsmen. These Latin American woven interpretations are made in wool with its own color signature and in a rich diversity in technique and structure. The individual and original results are the starting point for new possibilities, open to discoveries and interpretations by Linda Topic and Marc Van Hoe. These two Brussels designers are operating within their own framework of disciplinary fields like weaving, felting and embroidering or from their more autonomous design work. A brand new jacquard research collection, presented during Design September and MoOD (Brussels), is the result of this collaboration.
