International Contemporary Sculpture Event Connects Art Enthusiasts and Experts
On January 29, 2017 in Villa Hellebosch, Vollezele, Belgium
The International Celebration for Contemporary Sculpture start'17 has been celebrating three-dimensional art annually for 8 years now. During this event the entire sculpture scene is connected - on the same day, at the same time, at very different locations. The event is geared toward artists, curators, critics, collectors, art dealers, architects and art enthusiasts worldwide. All participants at the 70 locations are connected virtually with each other and can communicate their impressions live in the social networks.
start'17
Sunday, January 29, 2017, starting at 11.00 a.m. (CET)
Belgian Start’17, Hellebosch, Heystraat 7, 1570 Vollezele, Belgium

During the start'17 event a diverse group of art locations will be opening their doors once again. In studios, museums, galleries, sculpture parks, sculptor’s workshops and foundries art enthusiasts can experience the event in the form of exhibits, panel discussions, lectures, workshops, artist talks, installations and tours. The 70 hosts show how contemporary sculpture is created and provide the opportunity to meet the protagonists of this fascinating art form personally. At the same time like-minded guests can meet to share their passion for sculpture, to network and to exchange ideas with one another.
One of the venues is Belgian Start’17 in Vollezele hosted by Alexandra Cool
Another highlight is that start'17 can be experienced in the context of the network: all participants are connected virtually and can share their impressions with each other on a photo wall. Photos and comments that are made at the events will be posted on Twitter or Instagram and can be followed by all guests live and on screen.
This year’s theme is: Art in Public Spaces and sculpture network was able to win Professor Florian Matzner from the Art Academy Munich as curator. He will accompany the theme at all the events throughout the year.
Creating Awareness for Contemporary Sculpture

The platform regularly organizes local and international events during which the European sculpture community meets, exchanges information, discusses developments and experiences art jointly. start'17 is a pan-European festival of sculpture. Since 2010, thousands of people enthusiastic about contemporary sculpture have met every year at this event. Last year it mobilized more than 4,000 people in 18 countries and provided opportunities to both share success stories and discuss worries and needs in the struggle surrounding contemporary sculpture while networking with others.
